Todd Coffman would roll to the race lead from his outside pole starting position and survive four caution periods and a couple of close calls in lapped traffic to win his second event of the season with the Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Model division by leading all 40 laps of the Jay Construction and Restoration 40. Coffman’s victory would come behind the wheel of the Sharon Coffman owned Auto Connection/Self Service Storage/The Muffler Shop/Coffman’s Photography/Todd’s Body Shop/Harrod Farms sponsored #35 Rocket Chassis powered by a Hendren GM604 Crate Engine. Showers started to pick up by lap 8 and the race, scheduled for 25 laps, would be cautioned with 13 circuits scored as the track was becoming very slippery at that point. After some discussion by track officials, the event was called complete and Rice would score his first-ever Super Late Model feature checkered flag aboard the Kuzman Racing owned H.E.A.T. Inc./Bennett Excavating/Poske Performance Parts/Extreme Sportswear sponsored #11R Club 29 Race Car sporting power from a Jay Dickens Race Engine. Rattliff would be credited with second place, while Victor Lee, Michael Chilton, and Tripp Gerrald completed the top five. Jason Bell would get past Josh Dickerson with two laps remaining to pick up the win in the Hardees Mini-Cup/Cyclone division main event behind the wheel of his CheapGoods.com sponsored #97 machine. Dickerson would finish second, with Scott Crusenberry and Tim Crusenberry completing the running order. Five entries would see Dickerson win the heat.
The feature event for the Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds was postponed due to the rain and will be contested next Friday May 1, with the starting field for that event locked in and no other drivers able to run that feature event, making for double feature next week. In preliminary action, thirteen entries saw Keith Smith as the top qualifier at 15.235 seconds, with heat race victories going to Smith and Jeff Watson.
The rains also forced the postponement of the Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stock main event and that feature will run at the conclusion of the racing program on Friday May 1 and those feature is also set, with no other drivers allowed to enter that feature event, setting up double features next week.
