|Junction City, KY (July 9, 2015) Ponderosa Speedway has been dealt a bad hand of cards from Mother Nature in 2015 as the track will suffer its fourth straight rainout as the 15th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial scheduled for Friday July 10 as been postponed.
Rain showers throughout the week created damp and soggy grounds around the track, but the final straw came with two heavy afternoon thunderstorms, with the final one causing the stream located next to the track to overflow its banks and flood part of the pit area and a majority of the spectator parking area, thus, track promoter Jerry Denson has been forced to postpone the event until July 24 due to overly saturated grounds created by the excessive rainfall.
The next event on the Ponderosa Speedway schedule will now be a full racing program on Friday July 17 that will feature Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $1,000 to win, Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds racing for $700 to win, Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Models racing for $600 to win, Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stocks racing for $400 to win, and Hardees Mini-Cup/Cyclones racing for $100 to win.
The new date for the 15th Annual Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial event will now be on Friday July 24 and will feature Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win, along with a full racing program for the Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds, Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Models, Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stocks, and Hardees Mini-Cup/Cyclones.
This will set up a great doubleheader weekend as the 18th Annual Pete Abell Memorial will now take place the following evening on Saturday July 25 and will feature Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win, Sweet Beans and Things Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win, Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Models now racing for $1,000 to win, and Four Cylinders will be in action for $300 to win.
