2014 Celebration of Champions/Test and Tune Open Practice Goes Saturday March 21
Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson and staff will honor its top racers of the 2014 racing season at the track’s 2014 Celebration of Champions, which will now take place on Saturday March 21. The banquet had to be rescheduled due to the serious illness and ongoing health issues of track promoter Jerry Denson’s father. The awards ceremony will now coincide with the track’s official Test and Tune Practice Day that is set for Saturday March 21 as well from 1:00 p.m. until 5 p.m., with the Celebration of Champions to honor the track’s top drivers from 2014 taking place immediately following the practice session. Track champions for the 2014 season were as follows: Super Late Models- Dion Benningfield of Lebanon, KY; Modifieds- Ryan Thomas of Gosport, IN; Pro Late Models- Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY; Sportsman- Glen Hounshell, Jr. of Mount Vernon, KY.
Transponder Scoring/Timing to be Used at Ponderosa Speedway in 2015
Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson is pleased to announce that he has purchased a transponder system that will aid in the timing and scoring of the race cars for the 2015 racing season. This will help improve the racers experience at Ponderosa Speedway and should also help in keeping the racing program moving along in a quicker manner as well. Drivers can purchase their own transponders if they wish or they can rent them for $10 from the track each week (if a driver uses his own transponder, there is a $5 user fee). Pouches for mounting and holding the transponders will also be available and it is highly suggested that racers purchase their own transponder pouch so they can attach it to the specified area on their car and just leave the pouch in place. Also, RACEceivers will once again be mandatory in all divisions in competition at Ponderosa Speedway during the 2015 season.
Stock Cars, Go-Karts, and Motocross Action at Ponderosa Speedway in 2015
Not only will Ponderosa Speedway be the Friday night stop for racers and race fans for stock car in 2015, but track promoter Jerry Denson will also offer some other forms of motorsports at the track. Once again, Mr. Denson has partnered with Ed and Vicki Hasty of Team Lightning Promotions to present Go-Kart racing at “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” in 2015, with the Ultimate Kart Series visiting the track on Saturday August 15, while the signature event of Team Lightning Promotions, The Insane One, will return on Friday through Sunday September 18, 19, and 20, with various classes of go-kart competition, culminating in the $50,000 to win Insane One event. There could also possible be two more karting events scheduled at the track as well, with more details to be announced about the karting events. Also, there will be Motocross Obstacle Course racing in the infield area of Ponderosa Speedway on Saturday April 11 and Saturday May 16, with more detailed to be announced about those events. Of course, some great stock car action is also planned at the track in 2015, with Ray Cook’s Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals set for action in the Spring Showdown on Friday April 3, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series makes their first-ever appearance on Friday May 8, the Weekend Warrior on Friday June 19 and Pete Abell Memorial on Saturday June 20, the Hugh “Junebug” Rowland Memorial on Friday July 10, the Ultimate Super Late Model Series sanctioned John Bradshaw Memorial on Friday August 21, the Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Collins Signs sanctioned Revelution Race Cars Iron Man Speedweek Red Clay Bash on Friday September 4, and the season-ending Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Collins Signs sanctioned 25th anniversary Fall Classic October 8 through October 10, paying $25,000 to win for Super Late Models.
