Ponderosa Speedway Makes Final Amendments to Modified and Super Stock Tire Rules for 20171
Junction City, KY (March 21, 2017) Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jamie Stumph and co-owner Larry Redenivs are pleased to announce the final amendments to the tire rules for both the track’s Open Wheel Modified and KDRA Super Stock divisions for the 2017 racing season at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”.

The track conducted a tire test with representatives from both Hoosier Tire and American Race Tire present and all parties agreed that the following tire rules would be the fairest for both tire brands, taking into consideration last year’s tire rule and allowing a burn-off period for drivers to use up any older tires they currently have for use.

The tire rule for both the Open Wheel Modified and KDRA Super Stock divisions at Ponderosa Speedway will be as follows:  Tires:  (some compounds are discontinued by the manufacturer, but are listed due to some still in use by drivers); Front Tires (siping allowed on front due to carry-over from 2016 season)- Hoosier:  Medium, A40S, M-30s, A40, Hard, H40, & M-60 (“D”, Medium 100 & 200 Not Allowed); American Racer:  Medium, Hard, & Extra Hard; Rear Tires (the only siping of rear tires will be: Hoosier M-60 & American Racer Ex Hard)- Hoosier Tires:  A40S, M-30S, A40, Hard, H40, & M-60; American Racer: Hard, & Extra Hard (No Grooving Allowed; Anyone found with chemically altered tires, will be suspended for 3 races and will lose all their points accumulated up to that race.  Anyone found a 2nd time with chemically altered tires will be suspended for the remainder of the season. If a tire sample is taken from any car out of the A-Main, the driver’s money will be held until the tire sample has cleared the lab.  SPECIAL NOTE: Beginning with 2018 racing season, the following tire rule will go into effect:  Front and Rear:   Hoosier: M-30S and M-60 or American Racer: Hard & Extra Hard.  These will be the ONLY Tires Allowed in 2018).

Ponderosa Speedway will have a pair of open practices, with the first taking place on Saturday afternoon March 25, while the other one will take place on Friday evening March 31.  The season opener at the track will take place on Saturday April 1 with the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Division Series paying $2,000 to win, along with the track’s Pro (Crate) Late Models ($1,000 to win), KDRA Super Stocks ($750 to win), Stock Four Cylinders ($600 to win), and Mini-Cup/Cyclones ($100 to win).
